Rabbi Mendel Levy was born in Johannesburg - South Africa, where he graduated from the school of Torah Academy.
He started his Rabbinical training in The Rabbinical College of Australia and New Zealand, where he attained a degree in Talmudic Studies. He furthered his studies in the Rabbinical College of America and the Mach Lehora'ah Semicha Program in Pretoria - South Africa,
where he eventually became ordained in the Rabbinate.
Rabbi Levy continued with his studies while working in The Shul of Bal Harbour for over ten years focusing on outreach, social services and community work, while graduating with a Master’s Degree in Hebrew Letters.
He later became certified as a Professional Life Coach and a Family Counselor.
After receiving training in Clinical Pastoral Education, Rabbi Levy became a Chaplain focusing on Hospice patients and families.
In 2016, Mendel founded the Chabad Chaplaincy Network, a non-profit advocacy organization, providing care for the Jewish community, including: emotional, spiritual & physical support for patients and families in hospitals, hospices and senior living facilities.
Currently, he serves as a Staff Chaplain for Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, under the auspices of Mishkan Miami - a program of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.
Rabbi Levy together with his wife Stephanie and five kids coordinate all religious and spiritual programs in the Hospital.
